speakeasy

survived one day in ny without being mugged! It was so ideal - exactly what i needed after my quals. this trip, i've decided, is going to be about food and drinks - not really about maniacally going to see broadway once to twice a day, everyday. of course i'll see one or two broadway shows ;) but it was nice going to ted allen (of queer eye for the straight guy)'s favorite restaurant in new york, malatesta, with their yummy handmade pasta and house cabernet. after a walk along the hudson river avoiding vioxx drug dealers and bears, and we had cocktails at the secretive speakeasy called "little branch", where we saw jim from "the office". he has the casual sexiness going for him. :) as i stood up to go to the bathroom, i looked back to see him and saw him staring right back at me. hehe. i fulfilled my celebrity fix for this ny trip thru him.

what a great way to unwind after the quals! time is already traveling fast, can't imagine going back to real life.
