sorry i keep talking politics, but this whole issue of gay marriage is so interesting to me. i'm still in the middle of trying to formulate my own opinion - i know, against popular belief, i do believe that gay marriage is against the Bible - yet what bothers me a lot is the way that Christians judge the gay population, because that is just as wrong. Here's what John MacArthur said, a pastor at my old church in LA, talking to Larry King:

"PASTOR JOHN MACARTHUR, OPPOSES SAME-SEX MARRIAGE: Well, I think there a number of things that we need to talk about. One is, it would destroy the family. I mean, obviously, God designed the family to be a man and woman to produce a child. It is the DNA, it's the genetic structure of civilization. If you don't have that, you don't have civilization. So you're striking at the very core of its existence.

KING: But what does the state have to do with that? God can do it, and as a religious person, you can practice it, but why should the state be involved in a marriage?

MACARTHUR: Well, typically, the state is always involved -- always been involved in a marriage and I think -- because the state's responsibility is to uphold what is right, to uphold righteousness. I mean, it's in the fabric of human thinking to understand a man and a woman make a marriage and a family. God has put that in the very thinking. It's in the heart. It's there. The state upholds that standard, always has in every state in every factor of human history.

KING: Do you favor civil unions? The president said that should be left up to the states.

MACARTHUR: Yes. Gay and lesbian people can do that whenever they want. They can do that in this culture or any other culture. But they don't have the right to determine marriage for a whole nation.

KING: So it's the marriage aspect -- if the state wants to pass civil unions are OK, to give rights...

MACARTHUR: Right. We're talking about two things, Larry.

KING: OK.

MACARTHUR: We're talking about an issue of civil union. That's a civil issue. If you ask me about whether it's moral or whether it's right, then it becomes a biblical issue.

KING: That might come up later.

MACARTHUR: But a civil issue -- sure, they have a right to make a relationship, if they want."

some interesting views on sex and the city. I think I wanted Carrie to end up single, because it is a nice message, that you can find happiness in yourself without a man. Or maybe it's because I'm single, that I wanted her to end up single. :P

Here's an interesting view that I'm not sure that I agree with. Am I too unrealistic?

i love my laptop!!

i missed it after it got sent to HP again for service. now they fixed it entirely, having replaced the hard drive. the first time i turned my laptop on, i thought it died cuz it was so quiet!! i love it i love it.

blogging is so much better than studying the physiology of proximal tubules in the kidney.

snowboarding is so fun!! i highly recommend to everyone. i recommend bringing strong friends who can pull you out of ditches if it's your first time, like it was for me this past weekend. hopefully we'll get to go soon.

my punishment for having so much fun this weekend: i am sick with the flu, i think. i didn't have a hat, so my hair got really wet and started freezing (so it was crackling in my fingers). I wasn't cold though cuz I was wearing so much clothes, but I guess something was off, enough for me to be sick for the past few days.

it sounds like i actually studied after the last post. talk about burnout!! i am SO glad that it's over.

one good thing about midterms at this time of year: i didn't have time to think about valentine's day! hehe. it'll be fun, two of my college friends are coming over and spending the weekend with me. yay~

last night was the closest i had to pulling an all nighter. i think i slept about two hours yesterday - even tho it was late, i had a hard time falling asleep. ah, midterms and the adrenaline and the stress and ALL THAT FOOD...

i think i'll sleep well tonight. sorry, not sure what the point of this blog is... but then what is the point for all blogs?

sorry, it's been such a long time!! and of course, i would pick the busiest time to update my blog. :P It's midterms, starting with Histology on Monday... so much information, but last night I got this burst of inspiration to start studying. Let's see if it fizzles out soon, maybe if I'm lucky, it'll last til Friday. I hit a minor speedbump yesterday, but hopefully today'll be better. It's already sunny outside! It looks warm today.

See, the weather can be such a catch-22, but I think the problem's in my head. :P When it's cloudy and dreary outside, I just feel bad and don't want to do anything (esp study). But when it's sunny outside, I don't want to be inside and study! Not that I would frolic outside anyways (I'm just not the type), but still, studying on a sunny day?? I'm such a pessimist. The weather just can't win with me.

Gina came last week! So much fun, I forgot how much fun we had just talking, wandering around Davis, looking for a open table at any cafe. :P It was crowded due to midterms. It's like the whole city goes into shutdown when it's midterm or final time - no parking at the library, no space in cafes... you just can't go out! that's what happens if the whole city revolves around a university. We ended up grabbing Jamba Juice (in the dead of winter! No one else was there. Too bad the peppermint holiday smoothie was gone, that was really yummy) and headed home, where we talked and started watching Center Stage at 11 pm. It's such a corny movie with bad acting, but *so much fun*. It's a Gina-and-me kind of movie. :)
