the difference between two days ago and yesterday is 20 degrees! I can't believe it turned winter overnight. I guess it's true when they say that there are no change of seasons in California. It literally changed in 24 hours.
it's a good morning for some white tea. thank God for Friday's! I'm going to Pilobolus tonight. I am very excited, we studied them in dance history, but I also have no expectations. I hope humor is involved. That is almost always good.

"Where I found Truth, there I found my God, the Truth itself, which since I learnt, I have not forgotten.... Too late I loved Thee, O Thou Beauty of ancient days, yet ever new! too late I loved Thee! And behold, Thou wert within, and I abroad, and there I searched for Thee... Thou calledst, and shoutedst, and burstest my deafness. Thou flashedst, shonest, and scatteredst my blindness. Thou breathedst odors, and I drew in breath and pant for Thee. I tasted, and hunger and thirst. Thou touchedst me, and I burned for Thy peace." -Elisabeth Elliot (I think, she quoted it on her website with no references).

the fire is fifteen miles from jen. be careful!! it's making me nervous.
i'm doing a non-medical thing tomorrow! very excited. :) meeting up for dinner with a non-med student, m. it's sad when little things like this make me excited. talk about med school immersion. i need to breathe a bit.
weekend's almost here! yippee. thanks to the fire, I had a short week.yay.

stuck in san diego. i woke up this morning to the sound of people talking outside, and I tried to judge how early it was by how dark it was outside (it was pretty dark). we turn on the tv, and it says "EVACUATION SITES". scary. the sky is this weird gray-ish orange color. at least though, the fire is about 30 min away, so we aren't being evacuated. my flight got cancelled so i'm trapped here til tomorrow. i guess it's better than being stuck in, say, iowa. (no offense, iowa) there is smoke everywhere and my allergies are going crazy. but at least one more day in paradise, even if it's a smoky pardise, an escape from reality. :)
it was nice though, the three sisters got together this weekend. it's rare we meet up but it was fun. all we did was eat and shop! what a great combo. :) the eating continues...

a few spare minutes in the morning - what a blessing it is! Listening to Jason Mraz's soft love song, "Hey Love". A few moments to collect myself before the barrage of a full day begins. Midterms start tomorrow - with a comprehensive anatomy quiz. It hasn't really hit me yet, I think I'm in a psychiatric defense mode, in this case, which is denial. :) (wait, I think that was one of the unhealthy primitive defenses...)
You know you're deep in something when you start relating to things learned in class to real life! the last time this happened was when i was studying for the mcat's.
it's amazing, i've studied all my life to be in med school, and now it's actually happening, and it's so different from anything i've imagined. it's pretty scary that i've prepared for something that i had no idea what it was about. i also feel lucky that i love it, but there was also an equal chance that i could have hated it. the whole pre-med thing should educate their pre-meds on what it's actually like, being in med school. my proposal would be to eradicate the entire ochem series to do this. haha. my gpa would be a lot higher, that's for sure.
hm, i forgot... tomorow is hat day. i only have winter hats though. for me, hats are practical - to shade sun or to keep my head warm. med school is giving us one point on our quiz if we wear a hat! isnt' that mean, like bribing, for a fun atmosphere? it'll be interesting to see what people wear though. :)

Hey love, where you going to?
You're not sleeping anymore, you're just trying to.
Stay love, where you running to?
Awful happens all the time, don't let it kill you.
Easily with me I feel as fast as I can see...
Afraid of the horror stories I fall down on my knees.
Come away, come away.
From all these things unheard
If a chosen word has got you cornered
Then it's a lesson learned
Like close the book before it burns you.
Come away, come away.
From all these things unseen
At the price you paid I promise you won't believe anything they say
Belief will only disappoint you
In case you never noticed the path you never chose has chosen you.
Afraid to face and break it.
The secret.

Our midterms are coming up next week! it hasn't hit me yet, I don't think.
Wouldn't it be great if we had 30 hours in one day? I could sleep 6 extra hours! That would be much appreciated.
I saw the end of the movie, Almost Famous. It was really good, anyone see it? It might be a better movie if I saw the entire thing.
sorry, there's nothing interesting to say! I'm afraid that med school will turn me into a boring person because I live such an unbalanced life, full of studying only. Is that ridiculous?
Friday is hat day in school, hehe.

scary, larry flynt got about 15,000 votes for CA governor!
my brain is swimming in the peritoneum right now. not a nice place to be. school is going great though, almost no complaints. If a genie came to me right now, I'd ask for: 1) more sleep 2) cell phone reception in my place and 3) a less self-pitying and a more thankful heart.
