we did this pose today in ballet class. minus yuri possohkov. this is lucia lacarra, in a beautiful quintessential giselle pose (actually, there are a ton of characteristic giselle poses - more than a pose, it's more about the transcendent forgiveness that stands out the most and makes a pose quintessentially "giselle"). she's protecting him from the "wilis" (or ghosts of women who have been jilted in love), who want to kill him. it was hard doing this pose while keeping my eyes down, on the ground. definitely nothing for your eyes to hold onto.
